An examination of the contested nature of cultural processes. Students will learn about the use of symbols and ideologies in organizing and giving meaning to human lives and relationships. The impact of historically uneven distributions of power on material wealth and symbolic systems will also be addressed. Prerequisites: AN100 or AN101 or AN110 or AN120.
