General Chemistry I
This course is designed to be a first university-level course in chemistry. This course, followed by CH131, prepares students for further studies in all subdisciplines of chemistry as well as laying the chemical foundations for studies in related disciplines such as biology, physics, geography, anthropology and psychology. Topics covered include stoichiometry, gas laws, thermochemistry, models of the atom, trends in the periodic table, chemical bonding, 3-D structure of molecules, introduction to organic chemistry and reactions.
Prerquisites: OAC Chemistry or Grade 12U Chemistry or SC102.
Exclusions: CH110, CH120, SC100.
Special Registration Notes: Students pursuing the following degrees must take this first year chemistry course: Honours BSc Chemistry, Honours BSc Biochemistry and Biotechnology, Honours BSc, Chemistry and Biology, Honours BSc Chemistry and Mathematics, Honours BSc Chemistry and Physics.
