A study of the social production of femininity and masculinity. Various explanations of sexual difference, from biological to sex-role theory, will be examined critically. Recent contributions to the sociology of gender, including proposals for altering current gender relationships, will be considered. Prerequisites: SY210 (or SY204*). Exclusions: CT/HR370, SY234.
